Obituary

Frank J. Kyzer entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 19, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY
Born in Lexington County, SC in March of 1925, he was the youngest son of Elbert and Minnie Shumpert Kyzer. He grew up on a farm in Pond Branch District, attended Gilbert High School and then worked in the textile mills in Red Bank and Columbia, SC where he married his first wife, Thelma K. Kneece in October of 1943.
He was drafted into the Army in December of 1943 and served state-side as a Military Police Escort Guard and Army Engineer in Fort Green Haven before being honorably discharged in April of 1946. In June of 1946, he returned to Green Haven, NY where he lived for 24 years.
In 1970, he moved to Hopewell Junction and in October of 1971 in Fishkill, he married Carol Ann Raiche who survives at home. He is also survived by his sons, John S. Kyzer and wife Janice of Poughquag, NY and Doug F. Kyzer and wife Gail of Hauge, VA; his daughters, Suzan E. Salstrom and husband Walt of Leesville, SC, Julie A. Roth and husband Chad of Fishkill, NY and Jane M. Khan and husband Mick of Beacon, NY; his sister, Edna M. Watkins of West Columbia, SC; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife; his sister, Thelma A. Kyzer; his brother, Wilber G. Kyzer; and his daughter, Cindy Lou Kyzer.
He was a gifted carpenter and cabinetmaker, building five houses in the Dutchess County area and belonged to the Poughkeepsie Local for several years. He worked for IBM for 35 years, retiring in 1987 and then continued to do carpentry until 2002. He was a member of the Poughquag United Methodist Church and served as their Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for several years. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and watching NASCAR racing on t.v.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by military honors.
