Obituary

Frank Michael Shanny, a proud son of the Bronx, New York, passed away on April 4, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of a life well-lived. Born and raised in the Bronx, Frank carried his deep love for New York throughout his life, remaining a devoted fan of his beloved Yankees and Giants.

Frank graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School before earning his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Manhattan College. He went on to complete his MBA in Professional Management from Pace University, setting the foundation for a long and successful career.

For 45 years, Frank worked at IBM as a professional accountant and financial planner. In the later years of his career, he traveled extensively around the globe conducting audits, a role he embraced with pride and dedication. Outside of work, Frank found great joy in annual trips to the Saratoga racetrack and cherished both business and personal travel-especially to exotic beach destinations that often proved challenging for his fair Irish skin.

Frank was deeply committed to his work with the Dutchess County ARC, where he served as president, vice president, and treasurer. His involvement was inspired by his beloved son Michael, who was born with Down Syndrome. Frank and his first wife Patricia were passionate advocates for their son and were forceful in ensuring he was included at a time when the world was not kind.

Frank was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Shanny; his beloved son, Michael Shanny; and his wife, Donna Shanny.

He is survived by his loving family: his oldest son, Frank Michael III, and his wife Lihua, along with their children, Frank Michael IV and Danielle; his middle son, Brian, and his wife Rania, along with their children, Amber Brooke and Logan; and his youngest daughter, Mariann, and her husband Scott, along with their children, Mathias, Aidan, and Grady.

He is also survived by his sister, Jean Bevilacqua, and her husband Bill, as well as his nieces and nephews, Christopher, Thomas, and Anne. Frank also leaves behind extended stepfamily members through his late wife, Donna.

Frank will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, love of sports, and strength. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
