Obituary

Frank G. Straub, 84, a beloved resident of the area since 1965, died on February 20, 2017 at Greenwich Hospital, Greenwich, CT.

Born in Utica on April 1, 1932, he was the son of Adam and Mary Puk Straub. Frank proudly served our country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He attended schools in Utica followed by early employment at the First Bank & Trust Co. (HSBC) where he met his wife, Mildred J. Cooley. They were married on January 26, 1957 at St. Francis De Sales Church in Utica where they initially made their home and then moved to Brooklyn, followed by homes in Clinton, Hopewell Junction and finally, Fishkill. Mildred predeceased Frank on February 3, 2011.

Frank worked for many years in banking with the Fishkill National Bank. He was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church where he served as the chairman of the finance council. He also served on the board of the Fishkill Rural Cemetery, and several other local organizations. He enjoyed traveling to Maine, Vermont, Cape Cod, and Florida, and especially liked vacationing in Alaska, Hawaii and Bermuda.

Frank is survived by his son, Frank G. "Chip" Straub and wife Amber of Battle Creek, MI; his daughter, Lori McNulty and husband Scott of Rowayton, CT; his dearly loved grandchildren, Ava and Adam Straub, Emma McMillen, and Matthew and Ryan McNulty; as well as many kind and caring friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Helene Plante, Caroline Styc, Chester, Edward, Joseph and Stella Straub.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home followed by interment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
