Franz Alexy Union Vale, NY - Franz Alexy, of Union Vale, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on March 10, 1929, in East Prussia, he was surrounded by the love of his family at the time of his passing. Franz's life was a testament to resilience, devotion, and the quiet strength of a man who built his world with his own hands. In January 1953, he came to America and began his new life working for his uncle in Lake George, NY. A few years later, he moved to Poughkeepsie, where he met the love of his life, Cecilia Dopf. They married and shared 69 devoted years together. A skilled master carpenter, Franz worked for many years with Groves Construction before establishing his own independent business, Frank's Carpentry. He possessed a remarkable talent for building and repairing - there was little he could not build or fix. Whether crafting something new or working on projects outdoors, Franz found deep joy in using his hands and being in the fresh air.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cecilia Alexy; his children Hildegard Cioffi and her husband, Jim; Rosemarie Yasiejko and her husband, Roman; Kurt Alexy and his wife, Margaret; and Erika Noll and her husband, John. He also leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.

Franz's legacy lives on through the family he lovingly nurtured, the structures he built, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and skill. His steady presence, humility, gentle humor, strength, and unwavering work ethic will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at McHoul's Funeral Home in Hopewell Junction, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville , NY 12540. Interment will follow at St. Denis Cemetery in Hopewell Junction, NY.
