Mahopac - Frederick A. Barton passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022 after a short but difficult battle with dementia.
He was born in Peekskill, New York on August 19, 1941 to Frederick A. Barton and Anna (Scholl) Barton. Fred was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and loved sharing his stories with others. After his time in the military, he worked as a carpenter and then found his true calling by becoming the owner of Fishkill Plate Glass, which he ran for many decades and shared with his son and nephew. Many other family members and friends were employed by him throughout the years. Fred was also a lifetime member of the Secor Sports club in Mahopac, NY.
Left to mourn him are his significant other, Cathy Bizzaro, with whom he shared many years of love, travel and adventure; his son and business partner Fred Barton (Susan); his daughter Jeanne Wood (Tony); his grandchildren: Jessica Elsener (Matt), Shane Barton (Kimberly), Jeromy Barton, Keri Barton, Chris Henion, Tim Henion, Marissa Hobson, Jennifer Hobson, Vincent Bouderau, and Samantha (Macaroni) Bouderau; his great-grandchildren Charlotte and Sophia Elsener, Alex and David Barton, Phoebe, Ariel, Aurora, and Snow McCubbins. He also leaves behind Cathy's children: Denise Bouderau (Greg) and Michael Bizzaro (Lisa); his nephews Bill Barton and Gary Barton, with whom he had a very close relationship, along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Many generations of love gathered as often as possible. Fred also maintained a loving relationship with his first wife Eva Stimpson, and the mother of his grandchildren Benita Barton. He also leaves behind many lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother John (Sonny) Barton, and his nephew and business partner John Barton.
Calling hours will be held from 11-1pm on January 19, 2022 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill with burial to follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
