HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Frederick J. "Fred" Niebler, 85, an area resident since 1995 and formerly of the Bronx, died on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn on April 9, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Theresa (Haberl) Niebler. On May 13, 1951 at St. Anthony's Church in the Bronx, Fred married Rose Marie Frickel who survives at home.
Fred proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. He had been employed as a painting supervisor at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan for over 13 years until his retirement in 1991.
Fred was a member of many clubs, including the Bronx Bayern Club, Middleton German Club, Korean War Veterans Westchester Chapter 91, Manny Bacon American Legion Post 1758, and the East Fishkill Seniors.
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Fred is survived by his daughters, Veronica Hunt and her husband John Stein of Richmond, TX and Barbara Conciatori and her husband Glenn of Shrub Oak; his grandchildren, Lauren and Christopher Conciatori, and Naomi Smith; his great-granddaughter, Morgan Smith; and his siblings, Veronica Meier, Maria Meier, Joseph Niebler, and Manfred Niebler, all of Germany.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Burial will be Wednesday at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
