Wappingers Falls – Frieda Walters, an area resident for more than 50 years and most recently of Leland, NC, died in Bolivia, NC on December 2, 2022. She was 96.

Daughter of the late Josef Hirsch and Ida Frise, she was born in Aschaffenburg, Germany on May 3, 1926. Frieda married Francis Walters on July 31, 1949 in the Bronx, NY. He predeceased her on November 28, 1991. Frieda was also predeceased by her daughter Janet Dziuba, brother Karl Hirsch, and sister Anna Buckert. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Church and a member of St. Columba, St. Denis, St. Kateri Altar Rosary Society. Frieda enjoyed her involvement in the East Fishkill Seniors and loved to play Bingo at the Hillside Lake Firehouse.

She is survived by her two sons Michael Walters and wife Patti and Joseph Walters; grandchildren Christopher Dziuba, Michael Walters Jr., Kelly and husband Justin Jerrick, and Samantha and husband Chris Maxcy; and two great-grandchildren Liam Walters and Hailey Maxcy.

Visitation will be Thursday December 8, 2022 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
