HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Gail Perri DeCongilio, 56, an area resident for 5 years and formerly of Queens, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Brooklyn on July 9, 1957. Gail was employed as a Registered Nurse in New York City for 16 years.
On September 9, 2007 in Queens, she married Vincent DeCongilio who survives at home. She is also survived by her sister Lynn Petrini and her husband Joe of Hopewell Junction; her father Frank Perri, many nieces and nephews, most especially Hailey and Taylor Petrini; and her Godchildren, Valerie, Cameron and Taylor. Gail was predeceased by her brothers, Guy and Vincent Perri.
Gail will always be remembered as an exceptional woman. She was beautiful in every way, and touched the lives of all who met her. The family would like to thank the staff of South Circle 5 Oncology Unit at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, especially Margaret Cusumano , Liz, Ruth, Mary, Paula, Nancy, Jayne, Jen and all those who treated her with dignity for their care, compassion, and support.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville.
