Gamal Rashad Kandeel

Gamal Rashad Kandeel, 66, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Son of the late Rashad and Ensaf (Elshanawany) Kandeel, he was born in Shebeen El Kom, Menofia, Egypt on July 3, 1959. He earned a bachelor's degree from Zagazig University and spent many years working alongside his father as an accountant.

In 1985, he emigrated to the United States. Known for his unparalleled work ethic, Gamal began his career in the restaurant industry as a dishwasher and later became a chef. In 1992, he opened Seasons Restaurant in Beacon and then Fishkill, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2022.

Gamal loved traveling, especially trips to Egypt, the Bahamas, and Atlantic City. A lifelong soccer enthusiast, he played in his youth and was an avid Manchester United fan. He also took great pride in his Egyptian roots and the country's culture and traditions.

He will be remembered for his spirit of generosity and for treating everyone like his family. He had an incredible sense of humor and always went out of his way to make others feel welcome. More than anything else, he truly cherished spending time with loved ones and friends.

On July 18, 1987, he married Deidre Burlon at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel. His loving wife Deidre survives at home in Hopewell Junction.

Gamal is also survived by his beloved sons, Michael Kandeel of Hopewell Junction and Ryan Kandeel of Beacon; his siblings, Ashraf Kandeel (Jessica) of Pine Bush, Salwa Kandeel of Egypt, Randa Kandeel of United Arab Emirates, and Safa Kandeel of United Arab Emirates; as well as many nieces & nephews along with their families, and countless other loving family members.

In addition to his parents, Gamal was also predeceased by three brothers, Mohammed Kandeel, Hassan Kandeel, and Wagdi Kandeel.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 8:00pm on Monday, May 18 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. A funeral service will begin at 12:00pm on Tuesday, May 19 at the funeral home, followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
