Gary Hattersley, a long-time resident of LaGrangeville , passed away at home on August 27, 2025. He was 83.

Born on August 23, 1942 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of Walter and Helen (Ott) Hattersley. On October 7, 1972, Gary married the love of his life, Diane Cretelli. She survives at home. Together, Gary and Diane raised two children, Matthew Hattersley and Eillen Thompson.

Gary went on to earn his master's degree and taught elementary school for the Haldane School District in Cold Spring, NY for 37 years. Gary also had his own tax preparation business for many years. He traveled to their homes, enjoyed meeting with his clients, and meeting their pets too.

Gary was a train enthusiast, animal lover (especially dogs), an accomplished woodworker, and a gardener. He was also a huge fan of science fiction novels and movies.

In addition to his wife and children, Gary is also survived by his grandchildren, Noah Thompson, Lily Thompson, and Calvin Hattersley; dear daughter-in-law, Amanda Hattersley; his brother, Jack Hattersley; his sister, Debbie Daigle; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
