Gaspar A. Cicio, a Fishkill resident since 1966, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in Sebastian, FL. He was 98.
Son of the late Philip and Rose (Rinaldi) Cicio, he was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 14, 1926. In 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Japan during World War II. He was honorably discharged from service as Sergeant in 1947 and was the recipient of the WWII Victory and Army of Occupation Medals.
Gaspar worked as a collections officer for Citibank in Manhattan for more than 35 years, retiring in October 1979. For many years, he and his wife co-owned and operated Brinckerhoff Liquor Store in Fishkill. He also worked part-time handling administrative duties for Bedford Chevrolet. In his spare time, he always enjoyed taking trips to various casinos throughout the region playing slot machines. Gaspar was a communicant of St. Mary, Mother of the Church, in Fishkill.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Lucy M. (Laquale) Cicio, on June 25, 2009.
Survivors include his son, Philip Cicio & his wife Louise of New Windsor, NY; his daughter, Rosemarie Mocarski of Wappingers Falls; his son, Thomas Cicio & his wife Alicia of Warwick, NY; his son, Robert Cicio & his wife Anna Marie of Sebastian, FL; his grandchildren: Jeanette Lynch & her husband Justin, Jamie Mesnick & her husband John, Marisa Schiavone & her husband Michael, Vincent Mocarski III, Thomas Cicio, Nicholas Cicio, and Gavin Cicio; his great-grandchildren: Olivia, Owen, Paige & her husband Collin, John Jr., Michael Jr., Maia, Matteo, and Leia; his great-great-granddaughter, Kennedy; his sister, Angela Smith & her husband Frank; and many nieces & nephews along with their families, as well as other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Gaspar was also predeceased by his siblings, Anna, Theresa, Peter, Florence, Philip, Edward, and Rocco; as well as his son-in-law, Vincent Mocarski, Jr.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 27 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 [?] a.m. on Tuesday, January 28 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Entombment will follow in the Wortman Community Mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
