Gene Anne
Smith
April 8, 1930 – December 25, 2025
Gene Anne Smith, a twelve-year resident of Guilford, Connecticut, and former 50-year resident of White Plains, NY., passed away on Thursday December 25, 2025. She was 95 years old.
Gene Anne was born on April 8, 1930, in Franklin, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward Joseph and Enona Gene (Bowman) Darmody.
On May 18, 1957, Gene Anne married her one true love, Kelly Smith. He predeceased her on May 28, 2024.
Upon reentering the workforce after raising six children, Gene Anne dedicated her career to education, working for the White Plains School District as a special education teacher, where she touched countless lives with her patience, kindness, and commitment to her students. Additionally, she was a devout 50-year parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale, NY.
After settling in Guilford, Connecticut, Gene Anne became a faithful parishioner of St. George on the Green Church. Her Catholic faith was central to her life and guided her actions, relationships, and service to others. She found strength and comfort in prayer, the rosary, and the sacraments, and lived her faith daily through kindness, humility, and generosity.
Gene Anne found her greatest joy in being surrounded by her family. When she wasn't busy attending her children's many sporting and scouting events, she could be found gardening or volunteering at the White Plains library. She was also a proud and devoted fan of her grand-dog, Scout.
She is survived by her six loving children: Kathleen A. Smith Buch and her husband Bobby; Kevin T. Smith and his wife Kelly; Michael S. Migdail-Smith and his wife Shari; Martin J. Smith and his wife Maria; Dennis D. Smith and his wife Kristy; and Timothy J. Smith and his wife Cynthia; along with 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Gene Anne will be remembered for her deep faith, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her life was a testament to love, service, and quiet strength. She now rests in the loving arms of her Lord, reunited with her beloved husband Kelly, and will be forever missed by all who were blessed to know her.
