George F. Britton, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died on August 1, 2021 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. He was 74.

George was born in Poughkeepsie on February 13, 1947, to the late Harvey and Caroline (Roe) Britton.

On August 20, 1966, in Millbrook, New York, George married the love of his life, Sharon Brizzie. Sharon predeceased George on March 29, 2013. George is survived by his 4 loving children; his daughter, Kimberly Lindell and her husband, Jason; his daughter, Dawn Britton and her partner, Raymond Williams; his son, George Britton Jr. and his wife, Courtney; his daughter, Rebecca Burchfield and her husband, Andrew; his granddaughters, Jessica Britton, Emily Roberts, Abigail Burchfield; his grandsons, Charles Roberts, John Burchfield, Andrew Burchfield, and Grayson Britton; and his siblings, Michael, Kenneth, Ronald, and Caroline. George was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Sarah Moysey; and his 3 brothers, Dennis, Jack, and Richard.

George enjoyed spending time tending to his "organic" garden and raising his chickens, hunting and fishing in his earlier years, camping, and playing Bingo. His greatest joy came from the time he spent laughing with his grandchildren, they adoringly referred to him as "Pop" or "Papa Down-house".

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 on Wednesday, August 4th at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
