George A. Cafiero, 95, formerly of Garnersville, died peacefully at his home on December 21, 2018.

Born in Brooklyn on February 22, 1923, he was the son of Gaetano and Geltrude (de'Liguoro) Cafiero. George proudly served our country in the US Army during World War II. He was a self-employed mechanic.

George was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Cocca) Cafiero. He is survived by his daughters, Trudy Guastaferro and her husband Vincent of Hopewell Junction, and Carol Corbo of New Windsor; his grandchildren, Wendy Doyle, Debbie Roberts, Marisa Hart and Eddie Burke; and his great-grandchildren, Ashley Dam, Alyssa Dam, Tommy Doyle, Trey Roberts, Matthew Doyle, Ashton Burke and Ellie Burke.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Peter's Cemetery in Garnersville will military honors.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
