George L. Howard, Jr., a resident of Pleasant Valley and formerly of Long Island, died on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 55.
Son of George L. Howard, Sr. and Marie Anderson Howard, he was born in Brooklyn on May 24, 1958. For many years, George worked as a truck driver for JWC in Poughkeepsie. He then drove for Safe Ride, Pleasant Valley, as a designated driver. George was an outdoorsman and loved hunting.
On February 2, 1994, he married Anna Knapp in Fishkill. Mrs. Howard survive at home.
In addition to his wife, George is also survived by his mother, Marie Howard of Long Island; two sons, George of Tennessee and Alexander of Utah; his daughter, Tracey of Long Island; his step-children, Janet Bauer of Beacon, Frankie Bauer (Dana) of Verplanck, Theresa Keenum (Wesley) of Beacon, and Charlie Bauer of Beacon; ten grandchildren; and his brother, Keith Howard of Long Island.
He was preceded in death by his father, George L. Howard, Sr.
