WAPPINGERS FALLS – On April 25, 2022, at the age of 78, George David Jones (known as Dave to friends and family), passed away at his home in Wappingers. An area resident of 36 years, he had previously lived in Arizona, as well as in other areas of New York, including Buchanan.
Dave was born in Peekskill on December 24, 1943, to the late George Frederick and Adelaide (Heyd) Jones. He worked hard throughout his life, driven by a strong work ethic and even stronger sense of integrity. He was a role model to coworkers, friends, and family alike, and shared his wealth of knowledge throughout his life. A career long member of the UA Sprinkler Fitters Local 669, he worked for several companies – and gave 100% to each - until his retirement. Dave did not have a lot of spare time during his career, but what he did have was spent doing the things he loved – being outside, riding and taking care of his motorcycles, and spending time with the people and pets who meant the most to him. After retirement, much of his time was spent working around the house and then with the two people who called him Pa - his grandchildren. His love of them and their connection with him was clearly seen in the smile on his face when he was with them.
Dave is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Julie (Behan) Jones, whom he married on January 8, 1971 in Las Vegas. He is survived also by his daughter, Donna Jones-Wall, and her husband, Raymond; his grandchildren, Kieran and Aislinn Wall; his brother, Michael Jones; and several nieces. Dave will be missed by family and friends alike, by all of those whose lives he touched throughout the years. Dave's impact on others could be seen through his acts of service and kindness, with his inspirational words and nuggets of wisdom, by the strength and problem solving he lent to those in need, and in the laughter shared by those lucky enough to catch him making his subtle jokes with a smirk on his face. From his neighbor, Dave, and his family to his daughter's friends and others, those who were fortunate enough to have a relationship with Dave Jones knew they had someone in their corner always and returned that feeling in kind.
Funeral services will be private. In honor of his lifelong love of animals, donations may be made in Dave's memory to the Dutchess County SPCA. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. Please visit Dave's Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
