George H. Liebler, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1961 and formerly of the Bronx, died on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Bethel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Croton-on-Hudson. He was 85.
Son of the late George A. and Helen (Twillier) Liebler, he was born on September 21, 1930 in the Bronx, where he was raised and graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School. George served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged for his service.
He worked for ConEdison for 43 years. His career with the company began in Manhattan, and he later transferred to Indian Point in Buchanan, where he retired as Emergency Planning Director in 1990.
George's hobbies included golf, reading, and working on his home. He was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, where for many years he attended mass daily.
On April 27, 1952, he married Karoline Hein at St. Francis of Rome Church in the Bronx. Mrs. Liebler survives at home
Additional survivors include his daughter, Gail Liebler & her husband John Schultz of Nevada; his daughter, Donna Duffy & her husband Kent of Pleasantville; his son, George S. Liebler of Peekskill; his son, Steven Liebler & his wife LaDonne of Maryland; his grandchildren, Michael, Kathryn, William, Jake, Ryan, and Éva; and his sister-in-law, Patricia Liebler of Calverton. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives & friends.
George was predeceased by his parents as well as his brother, Joseph A. Liebler.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 29 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 30 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Entombment will follow in the community mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
