George S. Neidig, Sr., an area resident for 40 years and formerly of Peekskill, died at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie on Thursday, January 28, 2010.
Born in Yonkers on March 10, 1931, he was the son of the late George H. and Mary Fesh Neidig.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a self-employed electrical design consultant for 55 years.  George was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hopewell Junction.

On April 19, 1958 in Yonkers, George married Edna Lowery who survives at home.  He is also survived by his children, Marie Metzger and her husband Glenn of Wappingers Falls, George Neidig, Jr. and his wife, Dawn of Hopewell Junction and Stephen Neidig and his wife Amy of St. Albans, VT; his sister, Joan Stegman; his brother, Robert Neidig; his grandchildren, Susanne, John, Karen, Thomas and Sherry Metger, Ally, Derek, Nathan, Gina and Lonna Neidig; and his great-grandchildren, Joey Angot and John "Jack" Metzger.  He was predeceased by his grandson, Glenn Peter Metzger, Jr. on November 7, 2000.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.  The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the Church of the Resurrection, 182 Route 376, Hopewell Junction with Rev. Domingo Shriver officiating.
