HOPEWELL JUNCTION – George D. Schneider, 82, an area resident since 1995, died on October 26, 2022 at his home. He previously lived in the Bronx.

Born in the Bronx on November 29, 1939, George was the son of the late George and Dora (Gobbi) Schneider. He proudly served in the US Army as a Corporal and a MP in Germany. George had been an auto mechanic until his retirement but that didn't stop him. He continued to work on cars of his friends and family, and made sure they ran safely. Proud of his sobriety for over 35 years, George was the secretary and current treasurer of the Stormville AA group at St. Denis Church. He never turned a meeting down if it meant helping someone.

He loved watching NASCAR racing and when able going to Daytona with his sons.

On May 5, 1963 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in the Bronx, George married Patricia (Stephens) Schneider. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; he was a loving and proud father to his children, Thomas Schneider and his wife Sylvia of St. Cloud, FL; Robert Schneider and his wife Angela of Bronx, Diane Archibald of Hopewell Junction, and Richard Schneider and his wife Melissa of Chapin, SC; he enjoyed being a grandfather to Joseph, Christopher and Jessica, Nicholas and Becca, Timothy, Meghan, Robert, Danielle, Angelina, Paige and BJ, and Mykenzie; and his great-grandson, Emmitt. George was looking forward to meeting two new little ones in the coming months! He is also survived by his brother-in-law, William Stephens.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 4-6 pm and Sunday from 2-5 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 11 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
