Obituary

Gerald Reiser, 68, a resident of Wappingers Falls for 35 years and formerly of Southfields, died on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in the Bronx on August 19, 1946, he was the son of Irving and Florence Craven Reiser. Jerry was employed as a food inspector for the State of New York for many years. Following his retirement, he worked for Con Edison at Indian Point as a water purification specialist.

Jerry was a volunteer with the New Hackensack Fire Department for many years. He was also a member of the Appalachia Club and a Master Gardener with Cooperative Extension. He trained dogs for the Guiding Eyes for the Blind and also worked tirelessly to reunite lost pets with their owners. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed gardening.

On October 5, 1980 in Southfields, Jerry married Nola Verhoeven who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, John J. Reiser of Poughkeepsie, Misty L. Raucci of Middletown, and Joseph D. Reiser of Middletown; his grandchildren, Cara, Olivia, Cassandra and Derek Reiser; his great-granddaughter, Giuliana Reiser; his sisters, Ellen Cohen and Olivia Baumgarten; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
