Gerald E. Lewis, Sr., 81, a resident of Fishkill since 1988 and previously of Yonkers, died on December 29, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
Born on September 3, 1940 in Yonkers, Gerald was the son of Donald and Charlotte (Marshall) Lewis. On May 14, 1988 in Ardsley, he married Roberta Hagen who predeceased him on January 24, 2016.
Gerald proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1957- 1961. He worked as a mechanic for the NYC Transit Authority and was the owner and operator of A&M Service in Yonkers. He was a member of the Mass Transit Authority Union and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also the former Commander at DAV at Castle Point.
He is survived by his children, Gerald Lewis Jr. of Montgomery, Susan Morano and her husband Guy of Somers, Carolyn Purnell and her husband Michael of LaGrange, Dawn Marie Filippone of Beacon, Tracy Filippone and Donna of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Michael, Christine, Justin; his sister, Charlene Paniccia; his nieces and nephews, Richie, Cindy, Donna, Louie, Dori, David, Donnie, Sherry and Michael; his dog, Bonnie; his cats, Violet, Edith Foster and Elizabeth Foo Foo; many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Lewis Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held at 6pm with military honors.
