Geraldine
Amodeo
May 15, 1939 – June 7, 2025
FISHKILL - Geraldine Amodeo, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on June 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 15, 1939, in Yonkers, NY, Geraldine-affectionately known as Gerry -radiated warmth, kindness, and generosity throughout her life. She touched the lives of everyone she met and will be deeply missed.
A 1957 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Gerry went on to attend the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She began her career in New York City, a place she loved. Later, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her family, eventually settling in Fishkill, NY. In time, she returned to the workforce, where she served with distinction as Executive Secretary to attorney Ira Pergament.
Gerry was not only a professional but also a loyal friend and member of her community. A faithful parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church, she served as a member and past president of the Marian Guild. Her deep Catholic faith played a central role in her life.
With a great interest in world cultures, Gerry had a passion for travel-especially to Rome-and shared many adventures with her husband David and dear friends. She also cherished time spent closer to home including playing bridge, and enjoying time at her beach house on Long Beach Island, NJ. When her girls were younger many happy summers were spent at the Southern Dutchess Country Club and Hopewell Gardens Pool.
Above all, Gerry was devoted to her family. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, David Amodeo, whom she married on November 11, 1961, at St. John the Baptist Church in Yonkers; and by her three loving daughters: Lynn (Timothy) Amodeo Smith, Suzanne (Keith) Cortese Abbott, and Laura (Charles) Amodeo Lovejoy.
She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren: Alanna Smith, Devin Cortese, Brandon (Chiyori) Smith, Victoria (Thomas III) Thorp, David Lovejoy, Andrew Cortese, and Mariel Lovejoy; and her great-grandsons, Thomas Thorp IV and Kai Smith.
Gerry is also survived by her brother Robert (Adela) Linder, brother-in-law Richard (Maria) Amodeo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, many of whom were her Godchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Blaise Linder and Agnes Linder Leitch, and by her brothers, Joseph Linder and Thomas Linder.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Geraldine's life at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by entombment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
