WAPPINGERS FALLS – Geraldine Roberta Flood, a lifelong local area resident, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 80.
Daughter of the late Robert Morgan and Bessie Cole, she was born in Beacon on October 13, 1938. In 1965, she married Hubert L. Flood, who survives at home.
Geraldine will be remembered for her caregiving spirit. She took great passion in helping others, especially those who were ill or less fortunate. She strived to make others happy regardless of their health conditions or adversities. As someone who possessed such a natural ability to aid those in need, she applied her passion to her career as well as her faith. For many years, she worked as a home health care practitioner, retiring in 2014. She was also a founding member of the Bethel Baptist Missionary Church in Wappingers Falls.
In addition to her husband Hubert, additional survivors include: her daughter, Krystal Powell of Staten Island; her daughter, Gay Flood of Wappingers Falls; her son, Chad Flood of Wappingers Falls; her sisters, Renita McKinney and Cordelia Baker; and many other relatives & friends.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sister, Shirley Paulin.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 1 at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2607 South Avenue, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 2 at the church, with Rev. Dr. Edward L. Hunt officiating. The committal service will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
