Obituary

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Geraldine C. Geysen, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at home.

Born in Hyde Park, she was the daughter of the late John and Isabel (Danko) Kelly. On September 27, 1953 at Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park, she married Ronald E. Geysen. Her beloved husband of 50 years predeceased her on May 29, 2003.

Gerry proudly served her community since 1975. She was a member of the East Fishkill Fire District and the Hillside Lake Fire Company #3. She was a Lieutenant in the East Fishkill Rescue Squad, where she and her husband had been honored as 2002 Rescue Members of the Year. In 2011, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Southern Dutchess Exchange Club Heroes Dinner. Gerry owned and operated Chocolate Expressions for over 20 years and was a current EMS Instructor for Dutchess Community College. She was a skilled baker and enjoyed sewing.

Gerry is survived by her children, Kevin Geysen and his wife Nancy of Hopewell Junction, Donna Burgos of Fishkill, Darlene Geysen and George Ottaviano of Highland, and Christopher Geysen and his wife Lisa of Pleasant Valley; her grandchildren, Katlin and Kyle Geysen, Lance, Hunter, and AnnaBella Geysen, Angel and Jasmine Burgos, Kimberly Cammarota who was just like a daughter to her and her husband Michael, and Landon and Austin Ingraham; her great-grandchildren, Stephan and Ambria; her sister, Joyce Myers and her husband Bill of Hyde Park; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister, Jackie Jasnau.

She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, who was filled with Christian faith and compassion. She dedicated her life to helping others.

Calling Hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The members of the East Fishkill Fire District will conduct a service at 7:30pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Gerry's memory to the Hillside Lake Fire Department, 207 Hillside Lake Road, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
