Gerard J. Hickey, a longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 10, 2025. He was 89 years old.

Gerard was born on October 12, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Charles and Mary (Conway) Hickey and stepson of Hetty Hickey. With a grateful heart, Gerard proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve from 1953 to 1961, earning both the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

On June 26, 1966, he married the love of his life, Barbara Isaksen, who predeceased him on February 21, 2021.

Gerard worked for over 25 years at IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he was known for his dedication, work ethic, and steady presence.

He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Hickey; his son, Dan (Tiffany) Hickey, son Jerry Gorman and daughter Kathy McCavanagh; his beloved grandchildren, Joseph, Alessandra, and Daniela Hickey; his sisters, Ann (Glenn) Thomson and Terry (Ted) Myers; and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his kindness, humor, and generosity.

Gerard will be remembered as a proud Marine, a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather. His legacy lives on in the family he adored, the values he instilled, and the countless lives he touched along the way. May he rest in well-earned peace.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Harvest Church, 2368 Route 9D, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590, from 2 PM to 3:30 PM with a service beginning at 3:30 PM.
