Gertrude E. Lewis, 83, a resident of Walden since 1989 and formerly of Dutchess Junction and Brooklyn, died on Monday, January 2, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh.

Born in Brooklyn on October 14, 1928, she was the daughter of Walter and Gertrude Corbin Dysard. Gertrude was employed as a nurse's aide at Butterfield Hospital in Cold Spring for 30 years until her retirement in 1985.

On July 7, 1973 in Beacon, Gertrude married Stanley Lewis who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughter, Helen Benevento of Newburgh; her son, Robert Motter and his wife Darlene of Montgomery; her brother, Fred Dysard of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandson. She was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Motter.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 12pm at the Funeral Home followed by interment in Beekman Cemetery.
