Gilbert J. Gallup, 89, a resident of Fishkill, died on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at home.
Born on April 14, 1928 in Putney, VT, Gilbert was the son of Leslie and Grace (Turner) Gallup. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Vermont. He proudly served our county in United States Army during the Korean War. On June 21, 1959 in Slate Hill, Gilbert married Mary Jeannette O’Connor who predeceased him in February 3, 2017.
Gilbert worked as an agent for State Farm Insurance Co. in Fishkill for 30 years until his retirement. Prior to becoming an insurance agent, Gilbert was a former math and science teacher. He was also a member of the Fishkill Planning Board, So. Dutchess Golf Club and Keene Country Club in Keene, NH. He enjoyed spending time at his second home in Brattleboro, VT which was his vacation and old family farm house.
Survivors include his daughter, Irene Gallup; and his grandchildren, Alexis and Elise Gutek; his brother Edward Gallup. In addition to his wife, Gilbert was predeceased by his sisters, Jean Marie and Ruth Ann.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 10-11am at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main St. Fishkill. The funeral service will follow at 11am.
