Giovanni Mastrantuono, a local area resident for 45 years, formerly of Ossining and Italy, died on Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Elant at Fishkill. He was 84.
Son of the late Michael and Angelina Mastrantuono, he was born in Italy on August 27, 1931. Giovanni served in the Italian Army and later emigrated to the United States.
He was a member of the Laborer's Local 235 (Elmsford) and spent many years working on projects throughout the region. Giovanni enjoyed music and was a skilled trumpet player. He also loved to dance and always enjoyed being outdoors. Above all else, he'll be remembered as a "Family Man" who always dedicated himself to his loved ones.
On January 4, 1958, he married Margaret Tatavitto in Italy. Mrs. Mastrantuono survives at home in Fishkill.
In addition to his wife, other survivors include his daughter, Angela Mastrantuono of Fishkill; his daughter, Joanna Mongello & her husband William of Connecticut; his son, Michael Mastrantuono & his wife Eileen of Poughkeepsie; his son, Steve Mastrantuono & his wife Maureen of Newburgh; his four grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Gabrielle, and Elizabeth; two sisters, Antoinette Palumbo of Cortlandt Manor and Maria Manocchio of Croton-on-Hudson; and his brother, Nicola M. Mastrantuono of Rhode Island. Giovanni is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 15 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. Entombment will be held privately.
