Giuseppe Berardi, 79, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1996 and formerly of Florida and Yonkers, died on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie.
Born in Mangone, Italy on December 9, 1931, he was the son of Luigi and Rosa Salfi Berardi. He was a self-employed bricklayer for many years, owning Karam Construction in the Bronx. Giuseppe was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and enjoyed painting.
On August 28, 1954 in Mangone, Italy, Giuseppe married Angelina Stumpo who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughters, Patricia Forshaw and her husband Joseph of Hopewell Junction and Milena McGovern of Hopewell Junction; his son-in-law, Karl Marinaccio of Cortlandt Manor; his grandchildren, Joseph Forshaw, Elena and Andy Frame, Alexa Marinaccio, Jacqueline Forshaw, Gerald Joseph McGovern and Timothy McGovern; his great-granddaughter, Esme Frame; his sister, Gertrude Bocchimuzzo of the Bronx; his sister-in-law, Concetta Berardi of Yonkers; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Rosamaria Marinaccio; his son-in-law, Gerald McGovern; his brothers, John Spadafore and Aristede Berardi; and his sister, Raffalina Carusa.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery
