Glen A. Gawan, 62, of Wappingers Falls since 1983 and formerly of Yonkers, died on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in the Bronx on December 1, 1948, he was the son of Jack and Gertrude Sena Gawan. He worked as a Teamster with Local 456 in Elmsford until his retirement in December. Glen enjoyed NASCAR racing and spending time with his family.
On February 25, 1983 in Mount Vernon, Glen married JoAnne Schimler who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter and her husband, Carla and John Penny of Poughquag; his sons, Richard Grillo of Poughkeepsie and Anthony Grillo of Wappingers Falls; his granddaughter, Erica Penny of Poughquag; and his cousin, Janet Hosking of Nyack.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10am at the funeral home.
