POUGHKEEPSIE – Gloria Ann Bascombe, 87, died on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island.

Born on October 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Forsyth) Christopher. On July 17, 1945 in Staten Island, Gloria married Robert H. Bascombe who predeceased her on July 10, 2006.

She was employed as a bookkeeper for many years at SS Whites of Staten Island and she was Past President of the Beekman Library. Above all, Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Gloria is survived by her son, Robert M. Bascombe and his wife Carol of North Myrtle Beach, SC; her grandchildren, Robert and Amanda Bascombe, Shawn Bascombe, Walter and Michele Hurlburt, Natalie and Dave Pool, and Jessica Hurlburt; her great-grandchildren, Brandon Hurlburt, Lliam Bascombe, and Abigail Pool; and her loving sister, Catherine Corrigan. She was also predeceased by her loving brother, John Long.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie followed by interment at George B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
