Obituary

Gloria daCunha, age 84, passed away on February 16, 2024 at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. She was born on April 20, 1939 to Giuseppe and Serafina (Giuffre) Sicari. On September 6, 1959, Gloria married her Evander Childs High School sweetheart and love of her life Manuel daCunha at St. Philip and James Church in the Bronx. Prior to moving to Cold Spring 10 years ago, she and her husband resided in New City, NY for 47 years. Manuel survives at home.

Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was extremely proud of her family and of her Italian heritage. She loved the color blue, chocolate, decorating, watching Jeopardy, Frank Sinatra music, dancing, Yankee baseball and especially cooking up delicious Italian food for her family. She greatly enjoyed spending winters at her second home in Sarasota, Florida. She loved the beach, and relaxing at the Nokomis North Jetty.

In addition to her beloved husband Manuel daCunha, Gloria is survived by her children: Dorian Remine and her husband Doug, Chris daCunha and his wife Laura, Denice daCunha and her husband Joseph Pyzowski; her grandchildren: Cynthia Jordan and her husband Philip, Christina Remine, Danielle Powell and her husband Brian, Nicole daCunha and her fiancé Evan, Jenna Pyzowski, and Nicholas Pyzowski; her great- granddaughters Monique and Amber; her sister Lidia Watrud; sisters-in-law Rose Palmiero, Mary O'Brien and her husband Pat, her brother-in-law Joseph daCunha, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Gloria was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Concetta Tuccillo, Lucy Abbatine, and her sister-in-law Laurinda Johanson.

Gloria worked as a secretary for Good Housekeeping Magazine, legal secretary/stenographer for private law firms, and retired from Rockland County District Attorneys office where she served as Legal secretary/stenograph for the Chief of Detectives.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday February 20, 2024 from 4-7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, 1089 Main St. Fishkill, NY. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday February 21, 2024 at 10 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church 106 Jackson St. Fishkill.
