The sun has set on a beautiful life. Gloria Brown (Niziolek) was born on June 1, 1926 in Atlantic City, NJ to Hallie G. Nelson and Dewey Brown and went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 26, 2024. She leaves behind her beloved daughter Stephenie G. (Niziolek) DiMase, son-in-law Chris DiMase, and her cherished granddaughter Alexandra Nicole DiMase, whom she loved and adored from the moment she was born. Alexandra's fiancé, Nicholas Blair, who she called her "boyfriend" and her devoted Goddaughter Kim Reid.
She was predeceased by her mother, Hallie G. Marshall, step-father Percey Marshall, sister LuLu M. Jackson and her ex-husband Walter Niziolek (10/5/99), several beloved aunts, uncles, her church family, and her favorite cat Jobbie.
Gloria was a dedicated member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Atlantic City, NJ for many years under Rev. William M. Williams and once a month she cooked 400+ meals for those in need. In 2016, she received the 15 year service award for the Touch Ministry and the Usher board.
In 2017, Gloria moved to Wappingers Falls to live out her golden years with her family. She loved her birds and squirrels and would often feed them when she could. Chris made her dinner every night and she especially loved when he made her favorite, grilled cheese. Gloria was baptized and became a member of the Vineyard Church in Hopewell, even volunteering at the food pantry at 90! Thank you to all who prayed for her and special thanks to Pastor Ray Weickel and Jerry Mulligan for coming to pray with her at the end. Thank you to Isaac and Ben, her "sons" who called her "Ma" and loved her spiritually and always checked in.
A special thank you to Sharon Broun, who put a smile on her face every day by playing music, singing, and giving her a sense of purpose. I will be forever grateful. I would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice, especially Julie, Stephanie, Mallory and Virginia for making her comfortable during her final days.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday June 29, 2024 from 4-6 pm, with a funeral service taking place at 5:30pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc. 1089 Main St. Fishkill.
