Gloria
Poplawski
March 19, 1955 – December 12, 2025
Gloria Mary Poplawski, known lovingly to many as "Glo" and "Gia," passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 12, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 70 years old.
Gloria was born on March 19, 1955, in Long Island City, New York, the daughter of the late John and Gloria (Earley) McLafferty. She lived her life with a quiet strength, deep compassion, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Gloria is survived by her beloved husband, Edward Poplawski; her children, Brian Poplawski, Amy Poplawski (Chris Verillo), and Sean Poplawski; and her cherished grandchildren, Gabe, Dylan, and Christopher, who were the absolute joy of her life. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were blessed to know her.
Glo had a remarkable gift for truly listening. She was nonjudgmental, thoughtful, and patient: always able to look at a problem and find a practical, caring solution. To her family, she was a safe haven-someone who offered wisdom and unconditional love. Although her inner world was private, she opened her heart to those she held close.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially time spent with her family. She loved playing Mahjong with her close friends, working on puzzles, reading books, and gathering everyone around for family board games. And according to her grandchildren, she made the very best chocolate chip cookies-a title she wore proudly and lovingly.
Gloria will be remembered for her kindness, her steady presence, and the deep sense of peace she brought to those around her. She worked to create a comfortable home for her family. Her legacy lives on in the love she shared, the lessons she taught, and the countless memories held close by those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, compassion, and unwavering love.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 12 PM to 2 PM at McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. A service will take place at 2 pm in the funeral home.
