FISHKILL – Grace M. Ruggiero, 91, a resident of Fishkill since 1968, passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2023.
She was born in the Bronx, NY on October 16, 1931 to Carmelo and Angelina Mastropolo. On June 14, 1953 at Mt. Carmel in the Bronx, she married the love of her life Ralph J. Ruggiero, who predeceased her on April 4, 2018.
Grace worked as a Legal Secretary for Kemper and Lumbermans in Manhattan before moving to Fishkill with Ralph. She then worked for over 20 years at John Jay Senior High School in East Fishkill as a School Monitor. Grace was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, NY as well as a Secular Franciscan. She loved all types of music, was an avid bowler and loved cooking for her family.
Grace is survived by her children, Marie Obee of Lagrange, Ralph Ruggiero and his wife Doreen of Wappingers Falls and Valerie Ruggiero and her partner Glorvina Constant of Fishkill; her grandchildren, Grace, Loretta and John; her sister-in-law, Josephine Mastropolo; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was predeceased by her brothers, Salvatore, Joseph, Peter and Anthony Mastropolo; her sisters, Anna Facchiano and Ida Giametto; and her grandson, Duncan Obee.
Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 3pm - 7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 10am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
