EAST FISHKILL – Grazia "Grace" Amato, 91, formerly of the Bronx, died on September 1, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Buccheri, Sicily, Italy on September 21, 1929, she was the daughter of Antonio and Arcangela (Ribera) Amato. A talented seamstress, Grace was employed by the Martino Dress Shop in the Bronx for 50 years until her retirement in 1991. She enjoyed visiting casinos and playing lotto.
On December 22, 1946 in Sicily, Italy, Grace married Vito Amato who predeceased her on August 9, 2014. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Mario Castiglia, with who she made her home; her granddaughter, Angelica Coglitore and her husband, Carmine; her great-grandson, Matteo Coglitore; and her sisters, Francesca Amato and Lina Pedio. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Francesco Amato.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment in the Shrine of Memories at Ferncliff Cemetery.
