Obituary

Gregory A. King, 63, a lifelong area resident, died suddenly on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Poughkeepsie on April 9, 1951, he was the son of the late Andrew and Florence Christiana King. Greg was a graduate of Marist College earning a MS in Chemistry. Greg was employed at IBM for 20 years, at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola NY as a pefusionist for 17 years retiring in 2013 and was a member of AMSECT. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction.
Greg will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father. He was a “Mr. Fix It” who especially loved spending time at home and traveling with his family.
On October 30, 1993 at St. Columba Church, Greg married Jean Chisholm who survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Christopher and his wife Jen of Cary, NC, Mary King of Wappingers Falls and John King of Wappingers Falls; his grandsons, Jeffrey and Matthew; his sisters, Patricia Tompkins of Poughkeepsie, Janice(Ken)Stankus of Hopewell Junction, Theresa King of Omaha, NE and Barbara(Ed)MacIssac of Poughkeepsie; his brothers-in-law, Duncan(Birgit)Chisholm of Hopewell Junction, Hugh(Patti)Chisholm of Penfield, Andrew(Cathy)Chisholm of Tampa, FL and John(Pat) Chisholm of Wappingers Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
Greg’s son John is currently working on his Eagle Scout Project to benefit the Foodbank of the Hudson Valley.
