FISHKILL – Greta Larsen, 92, a resident of Fishkill for the last year, died peacefully on December 1, 2021 at home. She had been a lifelong resident of Staten Island.
Born in Staten Island on March 8, 1929, Greta was the daughter of the late Thorleif and Kirsten (Skardal) Jensen. She graduated from P.S. 20, Port Richmond High School, and Willowbrook School of Practical Nursing, before being employed as a nurse at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Staten Island from 1972 until her retirement in 1997. Greta was an active member of Salem Evangelical Free Church, serving in many formal and informal capacities, including church pianist. Greta placed the greatest value on her relationship with her Savior, and invested deep love into her family and friends, including those from the Manor Road, Center Street and Yafa Court neighborhoods in which she was blessed to live.
Greta is survived by her children and their spouses, Paul and Barbara Larsen of Fishkill, Carol and Steve Gundersen of Bernardsville, NJ, and Thomas and JudyAnn Larsen of Lansdale, PA; her grandchildren, Julie, Suzanne (Scott), Timothy, Erica, Mark (Lucy), Kristen, Scott, Thomas (Katy), Sandra (Tyler), and Robert (Ali); her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Rachel, Jake, Sydney, Drew, John, Julian, Warren, and Remi; her sister, Birgith Seashore; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Greta was also predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Norman Larsen, in 1990; and her sister, Ruth Danielsen.
A service and reception celebrating her life (and birthday) will be held on March 6, 2022 at 4 PM at Salem Church, 634 Clove Road, Staten Island.
