In 1951, Gudrun immigrated to the United States from Germany arriving aboard the Ship Homeland into New York, NY. She graduated from Pearl River High School in 1957 and became a naturalized citizen in June 1957. She later fulfilled her dream of finishing her education by graduating from Dutchess Community College in 1972, Vassar College in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Iona College in 1979 with a Masters of Business Administration.
Prior to her retirement in 1997, Gudrun worked in Finance at American Can Company and Digital Equipment Corporation which later became Hewlett Packard. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Roman Catholic Church in Hopewell Junction. She was an avid gardener and took great pride in maintaining her home and flower gardens. She received great joy from traveling, reading and volunteering. Above all else, she cherished her family as a devoted mother and grandmother.
Gudrun is survived by her children, Peter Christman and his wife Diane of Amherst, New Hampshire, and Karen (Christman) Rogers and her husband Matthew of Lagrangeville, New York. She was the extremely proud grandmother of three granddaughters, Katherine and Anne Christman and Morgan Rogers.
