Guillermo W. Chang, 96, a resident of Peekskill since 1965 and formerly of Ecuador, died on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Bethel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Naranjal, Ecuador on April 5, 1918, he was the son of the late Lorenzo Chang and Ersilia Andrade. Guillermo was an automobile mechanic at St. Joseph's Home in Peekskill for more than 20 years. He had also worked as a mailroom machine technician for Reader's Digest.
Guillermo was predeceased by his wife, Luz A. Lafuente, who died on April 28, 2011. He married Luz in the summer of 1958 in Libertad, Ecuador.
He is survived by his children, Carlos Chang and his wife Gladys of Peekskill, Guillermo J. Chang and his wife Nancy of Hopewell Junction, Teresa Chang and her husband Edward Mowen III of Peekskill, and Berta Cecilia Chang and her husband David Vera of Salinas, Ecuador; his stepdaughter, Lidia Carvajal and her husband Roberto of Bedford Hills; his grandchildren, Soraya Chang of Peekskill, Jennifer Carvajal of Miami Lakes, FL, Kevin Carvajal and his wife Carolina of Bedford Hills, Stephanie and Sara Chang of Hopewell Junction, Zachary Chang-Mowen of Peekskill, and Rolando Vera of Salinas, Ecuador; and his great grandchildren, Guillermo of Salinas, Ecuador, Adriana of Miami Lakes, and Jaiden of Peekskill.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction with a funeral service to follow at 6 pm.
