It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Hannelore O. Moritz announces her passing on January 28, 2022. Hanna spent her last days, at home, surrounded by her loving family and close friends.
Born December 4, 1934, in Mannheim, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Louise Haak. On December 22, 1956, in Perth, Australia, she married Karl Heinz Moritz. Karl and Hanna owned a deli, met life-long-friends and travelled. They moved to the United States in 1961 and settled in Beacon, NY, where they raised their family.
Hanna was known for her warm-hearted hospitality, dedication to her family and for being an amazing cook who loved to share her meals with her family and friends. Nana especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hanna is survived by her husband of 65 years, Karl Moritz, her three children, Linda DiGiovanni and husband, Joe, Robert Moritz, and Karl Moritz and wife, Deborah Rogozinski; her adoring grandchildren, Lauren DiGiovanni, Joseph DiGiovanni and fiancé, Stephanie Carlon, and Alexandra Hannelore Moritz; two great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Snoh Lynn; and long-time friends, Ginger Tramantozzi and Irene Rogozinski. Also surviving, in Germany, are her sister, and best friend, Inge Moll, a brother, Willie Haak and many nieces and a nephew. In addition to her parents, Hanna was predeceased by two brothers, Heinz Haak and Rudy Haak.
Although life without her will be heart breaking, we take comfort in knowing she lived a full and wonderful life and is at peace in heaven. Following her wishes, we will celebrate her life at a private family service. We thank you all for your expressions of concern and sympathy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. 12601.
