OBITUARY INFORMATION

WAPPINGERS FALLS – Harry A. Nilsen, 84, died on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Harry was employed by I.B.M. for 35 years.  At the time of his retirement in 1987, he served as a lab manager in Cary, NC.  He had previously served as a software manager in Poughkeepsie.
Harry was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served as a Sergeant for the 97th Infantry Division during World War II. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Above all else, Harry enjoyed spending time with his family.
Born in Brooklyn on June 17, 1925, he was the son of the late Harry F. and Mary Cary Nilsen.  On August 22, 1953, he married Marie LaRegina at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Brooklyn.  Mrs. Nilsen survives at home.
Other survivors include two sons, Greg Nilsen, Sr. and Gerard Nilsen & his wife Linda; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Nilsen; a brother, Richard Nilsen & his wife Marianne; his grandchildren, Greg Nilsen, Jr. & his fiancé Jenny Minners, Laura Nilsen, Matthew Nilsen, and Andrea Nilsen; and his great-granddaughter, Tessa Nilsen.  He was predeceased by his grandson, Anthony Nilsen, in 1987.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 103 Jackson St., Fishkill.
