Harvey F Goldsmith Jr 92, a longtime resident of Hopewell Junction, died peacefully at home on January 18, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Born on November 24, 1926 in Mt Vernon, NY, he was the son of Harvey and Rose Goldsmith. He married Lucille Merkert on September 3, 1949, who predeceased him on March 24, 2016. He is survived by his children, Christina Layer and her husband Jack, Janet Goldsmith, Julia Luchkowec and her husband Joe, Ellen Goldsmith, Nancy Shumway and Jay Harkins, Laura McPartland, Kenneth Goldsmith and his wife Ann, his grandchildren Maxann and Danielle Luchkowec and Matthew and Marcus Goldsmith. He was predeceased by his son Daniel, his son-in-law Mark McPartland and his brother Myron Goldsmith.

Harvey proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was an active member of Bedford Community Church for 30 years where he served as both a Deacon and an Elder.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
