Helen Mary Carmody, 90, a resident of Croton-on-Hudson, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2009 at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center.

Born in New York City on September 21, 1919, she was the beloved wife of the late Martin J. Carmody; the devoted daughter of the late William and Harriet Fogarty; the loving sister of Florence and the late Edward Lee of Bellemore, Grace and Dennis Fiederlein of Fishkill, the late John and Josephine Fogarty, the late Harriet Fogarty and the late Marion and Walter Long.  She was also the loving aunt of eight nieces including Lorraine Kenzelmann and Denise O'Shea of Hopewell Jct., six nephews, twelve grand nieces, nine grand nephews, and eight great nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.

Educated at St. Mary's School of Nursing in Brooklyn, St. John's University and Columbia University where she received a graduate degree in Master of Science, Helen was a Director of Nursing in Bellevue Hospital, New York City and Mercy Hospital, Bronx. After retiring from teaching, she was a supervising nurse at Skyview Nursing Home in Croton-on-Hudson. She was an animal advocate who was especially fond of Munchkin.

Callings hours will be held on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher's Church, 94 Albany Post Road, Buchanan followed by interment in St. Michael's Cemetery in Astoria.
