Helen Donatone, 67, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1977 and formerly of Carmel, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in New York City on May 14, 1945, she was the daughter of Hermine Coutavas of Sidney and the late James Coutavas. Helen was employed as an account clerk for the Wappingers Central School District until her retirement in 2007. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother and yaya. She lived for her grandsons, day and night – they lit up her world.
On June 13, 1970 at St. Columbanus Church in Peekskill, Helen married Nicholas Donatone who survives at home. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter Kim Tucker and her husband John of Hopewell Junction; her twin grandsons, Tristan and Troy Tucker; her siblings, Peter Coutavas of Missouri, Ted Coutavas of Sidney, Maria Ferranto of Hopewell Junction and Athena Blitz of Binghamton; her father and mother-in-law, Nicholas G. and Gloria N. Donatone of Poughkeepsie; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and David Dobbs of Poughkeepsie, Loretta Perito of Hyde Park; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30am at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
