Helen Marion von Hagen, 85, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1980 and formerly of Mahopac, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Yonkers on February 14, 1929, she was the daughter of Zopito and Maria Passeri. As a young adult, she was the president of the Women's Society for Christian Service at the Italian Methodist Church in Yonkers. She was the past president of the Yonkers PTA and sang in the Women's Teutorian Choir in Yonkers. Helen was also very active with the Republican Commitee in Yonkers, Mahopac and Wappingers.
On April 7, 1957 in Yonkers, Helen married Carl von Hagen who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughters, Sandra Cavallo and her husband Phillip of West Falmouth, MA, and Marlene von Hagen and her husband John Schrader of Pleasantville, NY. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Eva and David Turano of Wappingers Falls, Gianni and Nathalie Cavallo of West Falmouth, MA, Olivia and Alexander von Hagen of Bradenton, FL. She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey von Hagen on April 29, 2009.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held on Saturday at 11am at Union Church of Pocantico Hills, 555 Bedford Road, Tarrytown, NY.
