Henry J. Schroeder, Jr., M.D., age 85, passed away after a long illness on February 11, 2018 with his wife of 56 years by his side.

He was born on November 2, 1932 in New York City, the oldest of four children. He attended U.S Military Academy and received his B.A. From Johns Hopkins University. Thereafter, he received his medical doctorate degree from New York Medical College.

It was in the armed services at Fort Hood post medical school, that he discovered his affinity for Dermatology, somewhat by chance, as the Medical Corps Department assigned all difficult skin problems to him.

He met his wife Doris in Dallas, Texas. They married in 1961 in New York, where he continued his training as a Dermatological resident at the N.Y.U Skin and Cancer Unit. He opened his private practice in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. In 1964 and then moved it to Fishkill in 1984.

Henry's main focus and source of happiness, however, was his family.

He is preceded in death by three siblings: Ingrid, Richard and Charles; is survived by his wife; Doris, children: Susan, Henry, Peter, Sandi and five grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2-5 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will follow at 5pm at the funeral home.
