Poughquag – Herman List, a resident of Poughquag since 1994, passed away on April 10, 2022. He was born in the Bronx on March 12, 1927 to Herman and Elizabeth (Bolei) List. On January 6, 1951, he married his love, Rosemarie (Fritz) List, in the Bronx. Rosemarie predeceased him in 2006.

For 25 years, Herman worked as a painter at Queens College. Herman was an artist. He loved to paint landscape oil paintings. In his spare time, his family lovingly says he could be found "puttering around in the garage" and doing lots of yard work and fixing things. He was so proud to serve in the Army National Guard.

Herman is survived by his beloved daughters Monika Montgomery and Susan Preston and her husband Gary; his loving grandchildren: Jennifer Salvi, Brian Montgomery and Stephanie Preston; and his great-grandchildren: Sean and Riley Salvi, and Caleb and Cole Montgomery.

Visitation will take place on Thursday April 14, 2022 from 11am-12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc, with a funeral service at 12pm. Burial will follow at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
