WAPPINGERS FALLS – Hilda-Beth McGivney, 61, an area resident for the last two years, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023.

Born in the Bronx on June 16, 1961, Hilda was the daughter of the late Norman and Rosalind (Goodstein) Greene. She graduated Yonkers High School and earned her undergraduate degree from Buffalo State College before earning two Master Degrees from the College of New Rochelle and CUNY Lehman. After 33 years of service, she retired from the Farragut Middle School in Hastings-On-Hudson where she began her career as a teacher before being promoted to Vice Principal.

An avid fan of the NY Giants and Yankees, she had a love of sports that led to many treasured memories with her loved ones. She was one of the strongest and bravest women, who despite a known medical condition, lived her life to the fullest each and every day.

Hilda will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Michael McGivney. She is also survived by her sister, Marla Greene; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and David Gordon, Thomas and Patricia McGivney, Linda McGivney, and Salvatore Maffa; and many friends. In addition to her parents, Hilda was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Kevin McGivney and Joseph McGivney; and her sister-in-law, Marybeth Maffa.

Visitation will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Thursday from 11 am – 1 pm with a funeral service beginning at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
