Howard F. Finn, Jr., 61, a Dutchess County resident since 1981, formerly of Westchester County, died suddenly on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Peekskill.
Born in Brooklyn on August 31, 1949, he was the son of the late Howard and Geraldine Hayden Finn. After graduating from High School, Howard enlisted in the U.S Navy where he spent time as a submariner aboard the USS Thomas Jefferson, a nuclear submarine. At the time of his honorable discharge, he was a Radioman 3rd Class.
He attended Manhattan College and later entered the New York State Police Academy. He served the New York State Police for 22 years, retiring as a Technical Sergeant in 1996. He was recently employed by Campbell Freightliner of Orange County, LLC in New Windsor, where he worked as a sales representative.
His community involvement included membership in the New York State Police PBA and SubVets of America.
Howard is survived by his son Sean and daughter Erin, both of Poughkeepsie; his brother Thomas of Red Bank, NJ; his sister Elizabeth McNally & her husband Patrick of Bellerose Village, Long Island; his sister-in-law, Deborah Finn of Westfield, NJ; his former wife, Renee Finn of Poughkeepsie; his aunt, Rosemary Butschere of Newburgh; his cousins, Melanie & Mike Fescoe of Newburgh and Anne & Brian Runkle of Charlotte, NC; and his niece and nephew, James & Stephanie Finn of Westfield, NJ.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Msgr. Joseph Martin.
